Ben and Josh return with another “Live” episode , this time on location from the floor of the Granite State Comic Con.  We open up this mammoth episode with a recap of Free Comic Book Day and the pre-Granitecon Drink & Draw, which Ben took part in once again.  Then we throw a shameless plug to Josh and PJ Huot’s new MMA show on WGAM– honest-to-goodness real-live radio!

Tony Moore missed the show this year but we don’t let it dampen our spirits, diving into lots of comic talk, including Fear Itself, Osborn, FF, and Kick Ass 2.  Then we welcome listener, Dan Bertwell and con-virgin, Mike SMith to the show.  Mike gives the wide-eyed newbie perspective and agrees to take on a homework assignment.  Later, Ben & Josh give thier thoughts on the Thor movie and Calrton Greene of Eat Sleep Comics stops by to talk comics, sing Kumbaya, and drop a few f-bombs.

Finally, we wrap up the show by interviewing two filmmakers.  First, we sit down with Mike Dogherty, producer/director of Browncoats: Redemption – a Whedon-sanctioned, fan-made sequel to Serenity.  After that, we chat with Pasha Roberts, director of the upcoming animated feature, Silver Circle.

Tuck in the kids and put on a pot of coffee because this is a long one, but it’s Chock Full o’ Near Mint goodness!

“Live” from Double Midnight Comics & Collectibles, It’s Free Comic Book Day 2011!  On this Josh-less episode, Ben is joined by frequent guest, Dan Larson of Eat Sleep Comics.  They talk about Free Comic Book Days past, present and future and run down some of the highlights of this year’s offerings.

We discuss comics movies and the fallacy of considering comics as a genre. Then, in true superhero team-up fashion, we get a visit from Dru and The Dome from the Sci-Fi Saturday Night podcast to first fight and then unite against a common foe. After that, it’s back to comic talk as Ben and Dan talk about some recent reads including Super Dinosaur, Axe CopAtomic Robo and The Intrepids.  Dan gives us a spoiler-free review of Thor which had just hit theaters, before turning over co-hosting duties to P.J. Huot to wrap up the show.

Ben & P.J. recount their trip to the Boston Comic-Con and make some startling confessions about geeky addictions just outside the world of comics.  It’s a jam-packed show and there’s plenty more to come in the month of May, with Granite State Comicon coming up this weekend.
